Balloon flower comes from Asia. Its root Jie Geng has long been used for medicinal and culinary purposes. It is one of the chief flavors in the delicious Korean dish bibimbap. It is rich in saponins associated with reducing inflammation, lowering blood pressure and blood sugar, clearing out phlegm and other afflictions of the lungs.
